Following every NFL game in 2025, Steel City Underground parses the best plays from the Pittsburgh Steelers to highlight for Steelers Nation fans to rewatch, complete with what led up to the big play.
The final NFL preseason game is the dress rehearsal for Week 1, and the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to secure a win on the road over the Carolina Panthers while resting a large number of their starters while giving plenty of snaps to newer faces and rookies.
Due to an in-game knee injury suffered by Derrick Harmon, Yahya Black got another opportunity in the third preseason game to show why the 2025 NFL D raft paid off when the Steelers double-dipped at defensive line.
The Panthers received the ball at the beginning of the third quarter, giving their offense an opportunity to break the 10-10 halftime tie. On the seventh play of the drive at the Pittsburgh 40 (2nd & 9), quarterback Bryce Perkins took the snap from shotgun and Black bull-rushed his blocker and went right at Perkins, handing the Panthers an 8-yard loss… then stood up and rubbed his belly indicating that he had been fed. Teammate, and fellow former Iowa Hawkeye Logan Lee celebrated with Black.

On the very next play (3rd & 17), Black again beat the Panthers offensive line to get to Perkins, the ball falling to the turf. Julius Welschof and Eku Leota jumped on the ball, as did Panthers players, but the recovery was awarded to Mark Robinson. Black was credited with the sack.
Black finished the final preseason game with 5 total tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, and a QB hit. Kyler Baugh was the only other Steelers player to earn a sack in the game. The injury to Harmon was described as a knee sprain following the game.
