When Miami Has the Ball

I expect the Dolphins to try to come out fast on offense. Following a disappointing overall offensive performance in 2024, the Dolphins aim to return to the high-powered, high-scoring offense they showcased in 2023.

The Colts’ secondary isn’t its strong point, so expect Miami to test them by throwing deep balls to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

De’Von Achane should also be someone who may see more work in the passing game than the running game this week.

Miami’s offensive line may be without newly acquired James Daniels, so Kion Smith most likely will step in and start, and he has to perform at an adequate level to not hamper the offense overall.

When Indianapolis Has the Ball

For the Dolphins, it’s about playing up to your strengths and hiding your weaknesses. I think Miami will look to bring pressure early and often to try to rattle Daniel Jones and the Colts’ passing game.

The Colts will try to establish the running game with Jonathan Taylor, and most likely will have success.

It will be up to Miami to sniff out screen passes and bring pressure to help offset their poor secondary.

If the Colts are able to run the ball successfully to set up the play-action pass, it may be a long day for the Dolphins’ defense.

If Miami can stop the run and make Daniel Jones and the Colts offense one-dimensional, then they should have a very good chance to keep the Colts to under 20 pts on the day.
