Week 10 fantasy football waiver wire must-adds

With four teams on a bye, waiver-wire players could make or break your fantasy roster. These four players should be your top fantasy targets for Week 10.

1. Mike Gesicki | TE | Cincinnati Bengals (rostered in 13 percent of  Yahoo leagues)

Gesicki scored 18 touchdowns in five years with the Dolphins and two with the Patriots, but none for Cincinnati before Sunday’s game against the Raiders. With wide receiver Tee Higgins sidelined for the second straight week with a quadriceps injury, the 29-year-old had a pair of second-half scores, including this 47-yard touchdown, one of five thrown by Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in Week 9.

Altogether, Gesicki caught five of six targets for 100 yards on Sunday. With a Thursday night game against Baltimore on tap for Week 10, there’s a good chance Higgins misses his third game in a row. If so, Gesicki has a chance to pick up where he left off against a Ravens team that is allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game (14.68) to tight ends.

2. Quentin Johnston | WR | Los Angeles Chargers (rostered in 16 percent of Yahoo leagues)

Johnston led L.A. with a career-high 118 receiving yards on four catches in the Chargers’ 27-10 win over the Browns on Sunday. The second-year receiver seemed fully recovered from the ankle injury that forced him to miss the team’s previous two games, especially on this 66-yard touchdown.

The score was Johnston’s fourth in six games, and his 22.0 fantasy points were the eighth most by a wide receiver in Week 9. While rookie pass-catcher Ladd McConkey leads the team with 55 yards per game, Johnston is averaging 3.1 more yards per catch than his rookie teammate.

He’s also four inches taller and 30 pounds heavier and should be in line for more targets now that he's healthy.

3. Chris Rodriguez Jr. | RB | Washington Commanders (rostered in 0 percent of Yahoo leagues)

Unlike Gesicki and Johnston, Rodriguez didn't put up big fantasy numbers, but he did lead the team in rushing with 52 yards on 11 carries against the Giants on Sunday. Primarily a special teams player, Rodriguez was called up from the practice squad to help fill the void left by Brian Robinson Jr., who missed the game with a hamstring injury.

Working for the first time with the first-string offense, Rodriguez split the bulk of carries with teammate Austin Ekeler and outperformed third-string running back Jeremy McNichols, who finished with 20 yards on eight carries.

More importantly, Sunday’s game was the third and final time that Washington can activate Rodriguez from the practice squad. Barring a setback, he’ll be on the roster moving forward. As part of the NFL's third-highest-scoring offense, he is worth a stash if Robinson’s hamstring remains an issue.

4. Chris Boswell | K | Pittsburgh Steelers (rostered in 37 percent of ESPN leagues)

Boswell has the fourth-most fantasy points (95.0) of any kicker. He hasn’t missed an extra point all year and is 23-of-24 on field goals, including six kicks of 50 yards or more. The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a bye, which means there’s a good chance he’s available this week.
