Week 4 of the NFL Season is in the books. It is time to look ahead to Week 5. Here are the Week 5 quarterback rankings for fantasy football. Bye weeks are here with Michael Penix Jr., Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, and Aaron Rodgers all out for Week 5. Lamar Jackson is out while Jayden Daniels is questionable this week.

Quarterback Rankings Week 5 Fantasy Football

Tier 1: The Big 4

Rank Player Opponent
1 Josh Allen New England Patriots
2 Jayden Daniels* Los Angeles Chargers
3 Jalen Hurts Denver Broncos
4 Patrick Mahomes Jacksonville Jaguars

The Big 4 quarterbacks are the best of the best in fantasy football:

  • Daniels missed the last two games and will be questionable for the Week 5 game as well.
  • Mahomes had his best day of the year in the air so far this season. He had three passing touchdowns in the first three weeks but had four in the Week 4 victory. After having at least 50 rushing yards in each of the first two weeks, he only had seven rushing yards combined in the last two weeks. Mahomes has a tougher-than-expected matchup in Week 5 against the Jaguars on Monday Night Football.

Tier 2: Low-End QB1s

Rank Player Opponent
5 Dak Prescott New York Jets
6 Justin Fields Dallas Cowboys
7 Jared Goff Cincinnati Bengals
8 Drake Maye Buffalo Bills
9 Jaxson Dart New Orleans Saints
10 Baker Mayfield Seattle Seahawks

These guys are low-end QB1s, and I feel comfortable starting any of them as my QB1 this week:

  • Prescott and Fields face off in what should be a high-scoring affair in Week 5. Expect both to have great fantasy days.
  • The Dart era is here in New York. In his first NFL career start, he only had 111 passing yards and one passing touchdown, but had 54 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. His rushing upside is going to lead to big fantasy days. Dart gets a great matchup against the Saints in Week 5, putting him in the top ten of the fantasy football quarterback rankings.

Tier 3: High-End QB2s

Rank Player Opponent
11 Daniel Jones Las Vegas Raiders
12 Kyler Murray Tennessee Titans
13 Justin Herbert Washington Commanders
14 Bo Nix Detroit Lions
15 Brock Purdy Los Angeles Rams

This tier consists of the high-end QB2:

  • Jones had his worst day with the Colts, but it was not all his fault. Adonai Mitchell let go of the ball right before the goal line, costing them a touchdown. Jones also had two turnovers, hurting his fantasy day.
  • Murray had another “mid” performance in Week 5, scoring 16.1 fantasy points. He has scored between 14 and 18 fantasy points every week so far this season.
  • Purdy returned from injury and had a mixed-bag day. He threw for over 300 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, but had two interceptions in the 49ers first loss of the year. Purdy will look to bounce back on a short week on Thursday Night Football against the Rams.

Tier 4: Superflex Options Only

Rank Player Opponent
16 Geno Smith Indianapolis Colts
17 Sam Darnold Tampa Bay Buccaneers
18 Tua Tagovailoa Carolina Panthers
19 C.J. Stroud Baltimore Ravens
20 Matthew Stafford San Francisco 49ers
21 Trevor Lawrence Kansas City Chiefs
22 Bryce Young Miami Dolphins
23 Spencer Rattler New York Giants

These players are options only in very deep leagues or SuperFlex leagues:

  • Darnold continues to play well for the Seahawks, leading them to a 3-1 start. Darnold gets a good matchup against the Buccaneers in Week 5.
  • Stafford just had his best game of the season, scoring 27.4 fantasy points. He had 375 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. As long as he has Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, this Rams offense will be one of the best in the league.
