The Dallas Cowboys have one more game left to play to finish out their 2024 NFL regular season but fans have already turned the page to 2025, and understandably so.
As of right now, it's easier to talk about Mike McCarthy's future , the NFL Draft, and free agency expectations than about any expectations for Week 18's matchup against the Washington Commanders.
As such, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a quick preview of the Cowboys offseason, focusing on the NFL Draft. Let's dive in.
If the season ended today, the Cowboys would pick 13th overall at 7-9. The -Indianapolis Colts (7-9) and San Francisco 49ers (6-10) are above them at 12th a
nd 11th, respectively.
If the three teams all finished 7-10, the tie breaker would be strength of schedule (lowest S.O.S. gets highest pick), which currently ranks the teams as follows:
Now granted, there are many other teams that could impact the draft order still, but the Cowboys appear likely to pick between 11th and 15th overall. Fans will have to wait until after Week 18 to lock it in.
The Cowboys will have a long list of needs in 2025 and of course, they should start addressing them in free agency instead of waiting until April to get busy, which is mostly what they did in 2024. With that being said, the list of needs I built below will largely depend on who is re-signed and who isn't before free agency kicks off in March.
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, these are the players mocked to the Cowboys the most:
In my seven-round mock draft published earlier in December, I had the Cowboys taking Egbuka (Ohio State) at 14th overall.
