Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is facing five charges after being arrested and booked into Brown County Jail.
The case puts the Packers in a difficult position at the start of organized team activities. For now, the team is saying very little while the legal process continues.
That restraint matters because the allegations are serious, but the case is still in its early stages and Jacobs has denied the accusations through his lawyers.
In an Adam Schefter report, Jacobs’ arrest was detailed after a complaint and investigation in Wisconsin.
“After a complaint on May 23 and a subsequent investigation, Packers RB Josh Jacobs was arrested this morning and booked into Brown County Jail on five charges,” Schefter said.
He added, “Battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.
The charges immediately make this more than a routine offseason issue. According to the AP, the strangulation and suffocation charge is a felony, while the other four charges are misdemeanors.
Police said they responded to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs on Saturday morning. Hobart/Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas also said the matter remains active and ongoing.
Jacobs’ legal team issued a statement saying he “vehemently denies the allegations” and asked for fairness while the judicial process continues.
In the AP report, the team made clear it would not offer detailed comment while the case remains unresolved.
“We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment,” the spokesperson revealed.
That is a standard response, but it also shows how sensitive the situation is for Green Bay. The Packers began OTAs on Tuesday, and this now becomes a major off-field issue around one of their most important offensive players.
Jacobs is coming off a 2025 season in which he rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was also the team’s top returning rusher, making his availability and status a real football concern as well as a legal one.
The NFL is also aware of the report and has been in contact with the club. Until more legal details emerge, the Packers’ position is clear: acknowledge the matter, avoid further comment and wait.
