What Happened to Jaxson Dart? Giants QB injured After Eagles’ Brutal Tackle

For a stretch, Jaxson Dart didn’t look like a rookie first-rounder. The 22-year-old had the New York Giants offense humming, dodging and weaving out of pockets that dissolved around him. He’d even notched a 20-yard touchdown run earlier in the night, straight-up embarrassing Zack Baun with a slick juke move. Then, with the Giants leading the Philadelphia Eagles 27-17 in what had been a surprisingly physical contest, the script flipped, and the game’s brutal geometry asserted itself, proving that in the NFL, brilliance is always provisional.

The pivotal, sickening moment came on a standard pocket collapse. Dart was hit initially by Eagles linebacker Patrick Johnson—who got credited for the sack—but the catastrophic blow wasn’t the first touch; it was the second. As the young quarterback tumbled, he was crunched between Johnson and his own defender, Azeez Ojulari, his head and neck snapping awkwardly against the latter. Arye Pulli, following the action live, immediately delivered the stark reality: “Giants QB Jaxson Dart is down after taking a shot on this play. Got up and ran straight to the medical tent.” The optics were awful, especially since Dart had been playing lights out—187 yds passing, 1 TD, and a 72.7% CMP rate—numbers that absolutely sting when they’re abruptly cut off.
