Jason Kelce has addressed the growing conversation around Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, offering a measured take on the reports suggesting internal issues.
The former Eagles center, who spent years alongside Hurts, spoke candidly about the situation as speculation continues to build around the quarterback’s role and influence within the offense.
While the reports have gained traction, Kelce’s perspective adds important context. Because, in his view, this is not entirely new. It is just being framed differently now.
Kelce shared his thoughts in a clip from Pat McAfee Show, where he addressed the narrative surrounding Hurts.
The discussion centred on reports suggesting friction related to offensive control and decision-making.
Kelce said, “I know there’s a story about Jalen Hurts that came out earlier this week or last week. I think that, my overall thing is that, especially with Jalen, what quarterback doesn’t wanna run their stuff?
“This has kind of been a semblance of things that have been coming out over multiple years. But all of a sudden now, it’s reached this point where there’s however many sources in there.”
The response suggests that while the situation may have some basis, it is being amplified in a way that changes how it is perceived publicly.
Kelce also pointed to the timing of the reports, linking them to the team’s recent performance.
“I think it’s very coincidental that it comes when the season and everything don’t go the way they want. … The reality is, sometimes these things that are weaknesses when you’re losing, sometimes people view the strength when you’re winning,” Kelce continued.
He concluded, stating: “I think that kid’s been through a lot. He’s been through a lot of change and I think he’s going to be through a lot of change this year. … There’s going to be a drastically different offense in Philadelphia. … This is a big year for him.”
The comments highlight how narratives can shift depending on results, while also acknowledging the challenges Hurts has faced within a changing system.
For Kelce, the focus remains on what comes next, with expectations high as the Eagles prepare for a pivotal season.
