What LBs coach Aaron Curry brings to Steelers

The Steelers are expected to hire Aaron Curry, the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, as their linebackers coach. But what exactly does he bring to Pittsburgh?

First and foremost, the former NFL linebacker fills the hole left by Brian Flores who left to become the Vikings' defensive coordinator. However, he's much more than just a space filler.

Curry coached Seahawks' edge rushers Uchenna Nwosu and Darrell Taylor each to a career-high 9.5 sack season in 2022.

Now he joins the Steelers who have an even more talented room with the likes of linebackers T.J. Watt, the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and Alex Highsmith, who's coming off of a career-high 14.5 sack season.

Curry also previously coached Highsmith along with impending free agent DT Larry Ogunjobi, which may give a sneak peek into the team's plans in free agency. And if Curry can help Highsmith reach another level, he'll be worth every penny.

The 36-year-old becomes the youngest position coach on Pittsburgh's staff and the team believes it just stole a good one away from Seattle.

And although it's not official yet, Curry has already updated his bio with his new title with the Steelers.
