Where do Steelers fall on ESPN's way-too-early power rankings?

The 2023 NFL offseason is officially underway and ESPN has released its way-too-early team power rankings. Where do the Steelers fall following their season full of ups and downs?

ESPN ranks Pittsburgh at No. 14 and says it must "build around Pickett" this offseason.

The Steelers are sandwiched between two teams that made the playoffs and two teams that didn't. Ahead of them are the Lions and Seahawks while the Giants and Packers follow behind.

The Steelers, led by QB Kenny Pickett, made significant strides to finish the season 7-2 but fell just short of making the playoffs.

"Now it's about giving Pickett and the offense the tools to score more points," ESPN's Brooke Pryor wrote. "That means upgrades to the scheme and personnel."

Pittsburgh opted to stick with offensive coordinator Matt Canada for another year, but the team has a number of young and talented players. Pryor says at the top of the list is getting wide receiver George Pickens more involved.

Pickens may just turn out to be the best receiver in the 2022 draft class but the Steelers will need to take off his training wheels in order to let him be that player. He had 825 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie.

It's an important offseason in Pittsburgh and fans are hoping the team doesn't continue to fall behind the rest of the league.
