Where is the first loss on Eagles' schedule? It could be a while

The Philadelphia Eagles remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL, entering Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a  6-0 record. 

Given that only two teams have ever completed a regular season without losing a game, it is a good bet that somebody is going to beat them at some point this season. 

But when is that going to happen, and who has the best chance to hand them their first loss?

Looking ahead at the upcoming schedule, it might be a while before that happens.

Now, nothing in the NFL is ever a guarantee. Bottom teams beat top teams every week, and upsets are common in the NFL. But when looking ahead at the Eagles' upcoming schedule, they figure to be significant favorites in at least their next three (and maybe four) games.

On Sunday, the Eagles get a 2-5 Steelers team that has a rookie quarterback (Kenny Pickett) going through some growing pains leading a completely inept offense. That game is also in Philadelphia and the Eagles are 11-point favorites. 

This could be a trap game because for as much as the Steelers have struggled, they were a playoff team the past two years and are capable of rising up under head coach Mike Tomlin. But the Eagles have the better quarterback and the superior roster. This should be a win.

They follow Sunday's game with a road trip to Houston to play the Texans. The Texans are the worst team in the league and do not do anything particularly well. That would be a massive upset if the Eagles do not win that game. 

After that: A home game against the Washington Commanders. While Washington did look somewhat more competent with Taylor Heinicke at quarterback in this past Sunday's win over Green Bay, this is another game where Philadelphia will be a heavy favorite. 

It is at that point that the schedule starts to get a little tougher.

In Week 11, they travel to Indianapolis to play an underachieving Colts team that has now turned its offense over to Sam Ehlinger. The Colts have some talent, but they have been very underwhelming and Ehlinger is a complete unknown. It's not hard to envision a scenario in which Jonathan Taylor goes off and the Colts steal a close game at home. This might be a potential first loss.

After that, the Eagles get two very tough home games against Green Bay and Tennessee in back-to-back weeks. But given the upcoming schedule, there is a strong chance they could be 10-0 heading into that stretch.

Given how bad the Packers have been the past few weeks that game is not looking anywhere near as difficult as it did at the start of the season, but you always have to account for the possibility of Aaron Rodgers having an Aaron Rodgers game. 

The Titans have turned things around after an 0-2 start and starting to grind out wins much like they did a year ago when they were the AFC's top seed. 

This three-week stretch (Indianapolis, Green Bay, Tennessee) seems to be the most likely area for at least one loss. That is a tough stretch of games, and even if they drop one or two of them they should still be in a great spot given their start and upcoming stretch of games. 

The Eagles built a strong core, and have spent the past few months making aggressive roster moves to keep adding to it. The result is one of the best teams in the NFL that has a chance to remain unbeaten deep into the season.
