The Cleveland Browns are one of ten NFL teams still in search of that coveted first win.
The Browns are 0-2 in two AFC North matchups to start the season. In Week 1, they lost a game that they should have won against the Cincinnati Bengals. The next week, the Browns got smoked in Baltimore against a Ravens team that looked primed to contend for the AFC.
At 0-2, let’s take a look at where the Browns stack up against other winless teams.
The Chiefs have not looked the same to start this season.
Kansas City has been without Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Veteran tight end Travis Kelce is likely in his final season in the NFL.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes still exist, though. They’ll be fine.
Houston’s offensive line has been abysmal. The run game might not return to form until Joe Mixon gets activated from injured reserve.
But C.J. Stroud and Demeco Ryans are going to be consistent enough to push them through this. At 0-2, the Texans have an uphill battle at making the NFL Playoffs in a loaded AFC, but they’re still on the upper end of winless teams.
Mike McDaniel might have worked his way off the hot seat despite a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. But this Miami team is way too talented to be 0-3.
Offensively, they could be looking to trade Tyreek Hill, who might not be the receiver he once was, but is still very good. Pairing Hill with Jaylen Waddle and a capable run game should be a recipe for success but Tua Tagovailoa isn’t getting the job done.
The Bears were a darling this offseason, winning free agency and the NFL Draft. But that has yet to translate to success on the field.
The Bears have Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson, who they believe to be cornerstones of their organization. Even if the Bears aren’t good this year, they can hang their hat on figuring out how to build around a young head coach and quarterback.
While the Browns don’t have a quarterback as Joe Flacco’s magic has seemingly expired, their defense is arguably the best in the entire NFL.
If Cleveland’s offense was just competent, the Browns would be a much better football team.
Cleveland’s defense looks gassed late in games because of how much they have been on the field. Perhaps when the Browns flip things over to Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders, they can improve as a whole. Until they figure out their offense, Kevin Stefanski’s team will be one of the worst in the league.
No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward looks like the real deal. But their roster needs work as they continue to rebuild.
Tennessee’s defense is nowhere nearly as talented as Cleveland’s, which is what puts them a slot behind the Browns despite having their quarterback situation solved.
Can Bryce Young get back to how he looked at the end of last season? If so, the Panthers could be onto something.
If not, the Panthers look like a team who have done a nice job building around their quarterback that was drafted No. 1 overall, but could be in search of their long-term QB1.
The Giants looked competent in Week 2, but gave up 40 points to the Dallas Cowboys in an overtime loss.
The defensive line is the pride of New York’s roster, especially because Russell Wilson is wasting time until they hand the keys of the franchise to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The Jets are another team that just does not have enough starpower to get the job done. Justin Fields has not popped the way that some had expected him to.
While Spencer Rattler might have exceeded expectations, that’s because the expectations were beyond low. This Saints’ roster has almost no talent. They need major help and are likely the worst team in the league right now.
