Yes, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is still on the team, but he could be released before his $10 million roster bonus kicks in for mid-March.
Some discussions and hypothetical roster evaluations have occurred since Raheem Morris effectively ended Cousins' time in Atlanta in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr.
Cousins still believes he has a lot of good football left in him. So, which teams may be looking to acquire his services?
The Will Levis project in Tennessee hasn't worked out thus far. Titans coach Brian Callahan is ready for more of a "sure thing" under center for the foreseeable future, and Kirk Cousins could be just that if Atlanta picks up most of his 2025 salary.
The Colts have been searching for a franchise quarterback for years, having gone through Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Gardner Minshew and possibly Anthony Richardson. The Colts have faith in Richardson, but bringing Cousins in to mentor him may set him up for better success.
The Browns could be searching for another QB due to Deshaun Watson being unable to stay on the field. Cousins could come to the Browns in a trade package offering up the 15th pick in this year's NFL Draft in favor of signing edge rusher Myles Garrett in return. This seems unlikely, given that Atlanta could be looking for an edge rusher that isn't north of 30 years old, and the NFL Draft has a couple of studs at that position.
