Who Are Trade Chips Miami Could Trade At the Deadline?
The NFL Trade Deadline is fast approaching, and with Miami having a losing record and little hope of turning things around, they will most likely be sellers at the deadline, looking to ship off a player or two to acquire future draft picks.
I know how all of you feel about him, but honestly, we are talking about trading guys for late-round draft picks. Even if he is the one making the moves, it’s not a huge deal since he can’t even screw it up.
With all of that said, here are a few names that Miami may be looking to trade, and also would draw interest from other teams, because you can’t trade someone that other teams don’t want.
(in no special order)
Jaelan Phillips: He is in the final year of his contract, he hasn’t played great this season, and he is coming off two significant injuries. Being only 26 years old, and the level of play he was at before his injuries, other teams may want to roll the dice to acquire him for the stretch run of the season if they are a playoff contender. And, they may want him under contract to see if they can sign him before he hits the open market. If healthy, Phillips is a game-changing pass rusher, so expect other teams to have interest in him. Miami could expect a 5th or a conditional 6th round pick in return.
Bradley Chubb: When he restructured his contract this past offseason, it guaranteed that Miami was going to release him after this season because of how the new contract is structured. He has been Miami’s best and most productive pass rusher this season, helping his trade value. He is 29 years old, he is coming off 3 ACL surgeries, and yes, that contract is pretty bad, so he is just a rental as any team that acquires him will cut him after the season. Miami would expect a 6th-rounder in return if they look to trade him.
Minkah Fitzpatrick: He just came back here, but if he wasn’t happy his first time around, I can’t see him being happy now. I know he just signed a new contract with the Dolphins, but if we are in a fire sale, this may be the best time to trade him when his value is at an all-time high. It’s going to get far worse in Miami before it gets better. This season is lost and over; 2026 may be equally as bad. Will Fitzpatrick want to sit through that? Probably not. Miami could get a 4th-rounder in return for him, possibly.
Matt Judon: Veteran pass rusher, a contending team may want him to be part of a rotation. If a team balks at giving up a 5th or a 6th for Phillips or Chubb, they would probably be ok parting with a 7th for Judon.
Jaylen Wright: He has no spot in Miami with the emergence of Ollie Gordon. There are teams that need help at running back, and with Wright’s speed, a team will take a flyer on him. Miami traded a 3rd round pick to acquire him in Rd 4. Right now, Wright has zero trade value, so if they get a 5th in return, consider it a win.
