Who Should Replace Landon Dickerson on Eagles O-Line?

After a dreadful Week 1 performance against Washington, the Philadelphia Eagles announced former Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson will be placed on Injured Reserve.

To quantify just how bad Dickerson played the starting left guard position against the Washington Commanders Sunday, of 138 qualifying lineman Pro Football Focus ranked him 136th in the league. Dickerson allowed four pressures, one hit, and one sack on franchise passer Jalen Hurts.

“I was a complete liability. It was my fault. I should not be out there until I feel healthy,” Dickerson said after the game.

With the move to IR, Dickerson will miss at least the next four games. In his absence, the Eagles not officially named a starter but they have a few options to plug in at left guard.

Drew Kendall was a fifth-round draft choice from Boston College in 2025. The 6-foot-4, 308-pounder was a First Team All-ACC performer his final year at Boston College in 2024.

The 24-year-old appeared in seven games last year with one start and played four snaps on special teams in Sunday’s win. Kendall also played 18 snaps at left guard this preseason. While his physical traits might be average for his position, Kendall enjoyed a strong training camp showing.

Another strong candidate to step into Dickerson’s role is Willie Lampkin, a 24-year-old who was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina in 2025. Lampkin was a First Team All-American in 2024 with the Tar Heels and spent 2025 on the practice squad with the Los Angeles Rams.

Lampkin appeared in his first career NFL game this past Sunday and played four snaps on special teams. Like Kendall, Lampkin enjoyed a strong training camp showing but played center and right guard along the offensive line. At 5-foot-11 and 290 pounds, Lampkin is much smaller than typical NFL offensive linemen. However, former Eagles Pro Bowl linebacker Seth Joyner praised the tenacity of Lampkin.

“He’ll fight you and once he gets in front of somebody, he stays in front of him,” Joyner said.

It never hurts when a former Pro Bowler gives a tip of the cap to a player like Lampkin, but I think based off the body of work that Kendall has put together, he should be the new starting left guard during Dickerson’s absence.
