Who Will Start At QB For Green Bay?

The Philadelphia Eagles' defensive preparation for Sunday's wild-card matchup has taken on added complexity, as Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love's status remains uncertain following an elbow injury sustained in their regular season finale.

Love, who has led the Packers to an 11-6 record in his first season as a starter, was limited in Wednesday's practice and struck a more cautious tone about his availability. When asked about playing Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, Love responded, "We'll see" and "I'm hopeful"—a notable shift from his assured "Yes" response just days earlier

This evolving situation could force the Eagles' defense to prepare for two very different quarterbacks. If Love is unable to play, backup Malik Willis would likely get the nod, despite his own injury concerns (thumb). Willis, who finished Sunday’s game after Love’s exit, offers a contrasting challenge with his mobility and rushing ability, presenting a unique wrinkle for defensive coordinator Sean Desai to consider.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provided little clarity, describing Love's practice participation only as "limited" and leaving the Eagles to wonder whether this is legitimate injury concern or strategic playoff gamesmanship.

Philadelphia enters the matchup as 4.5-point favorites. The Eagles' defense, while dominant for much of their 14-3 season, has faced its own challenges recently and will need to prepare for both Love's passing prowess and Willis' running threat.

The uncertainty at quarterback adds intrigue to a game with high stakes for both teams. Green Bay has struggled against elite competition, going 1-5 against teams with winning records this season, including a Week 1 loss to these same Eagles in Brazil. Yet Love has grown steadily throughout the season, and his absence would be a significant blow to the Packers’ upset hopes.

For the Eagles, the focus remains clear: stop Green Bay, regardless of who lines up under center. The Packers' ability to adapt, particularly if forced to rely on Willis, will test both teams' depth and preparation as they battle for a chance to advance in the NFC playoffs.
