Who'll Replace Molly Qerim? Here Are 4 Options For 'First Take'

For the first time since 2015, Molly Qerim will no longer host ESPN's "First Take."

Qerim, 41, announced this Tuesday that she's moving on from ESPN. It's unclear what led to this decision, but Stephen A. Smith said contract negotiations were held prior to her departure.

“After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take. Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning, I had the privilege of sharing the desk with some of the most brilliant, passionate, and entertaining voices in sports — and with all of you, the best fans in the world,” Qerim wrote on Instagram. “I’m so grateful for what this journey has given me: lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to be part of something truly special. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming me into your homes.”

With Qerim no longer in the picture, there are a few candidates who could replace her on "First Take."

Shae Peppler Cornette

Shae Peppler Cornette worked for the Big Ten Network and covered the Chicago Bears for FOX 32 before joining ESPN. She's currently a full-time anchor on “SportsCenter," but she filled in for Qerim during the spring.

If ESPN is looking for a short-term replacement for Qerim, then Cornette would be a solid option.

Peter Schrager

We're not entirely sure if Peter Schrager would be up for this challenge, but he was excellent as a guest host back in May.

Schrager would bring a ton of NFL knowledge to "First Take," which is why he'd be an interesting choice. The only downside is that it'd limit his opportunities elsewhere.

ESPN hired Schrager away from NFL Network so he could elevate their football coverage on "Get Up" and "SportsCenter." Making him a full-time member for "First Take" would probably go against that initial plan.

Courtney Cronin

Interestingly enough, Courtney Cronin has appeared on "First Take" multiple times as a host and analyst. However, she's best known for covering the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.

Considering Cronin was a regular guest on "Around the Horn," she should have no issue juggling multiple personalities if she ends up hosting "First Take."

Joy Taylor

If ESPN wants to go big-name hunting, Joy Taylor would be a fascinating hire.

Taylor was the moderator for "Undisputed" with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, so she knows how to handle heated debates. She also worked with Emmanuel Acho, Colin Cowherd, LeSean McCoy and Keyshawn Johnson during her time at FS1.

Would ESPN be willing to take a chance on Taylor given her situation? That's the main question. She was accused of having inappropriate relationships with a Fox Sports executive and personality in an effort to further her career.

ESPN has not yet announced who'll replace Qerim. Those are large shoes to fill, make no mistake about it.
