As Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks take on Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams in a crucial Thursday Night Football clash, they'll look a little bit different.
The Seahawks will debut their "Rivalries" uniform, which features a wolf grey and iridescent green look. Depending on how light shines on them, the iridescent green jersey numbers and helmet reflect differently, giving a unique feel.
The jerseys also have a pattern on the shoulders, upper chest and legs that is meant to resemble soundwaves, a nod to the Seahawks' passionate fanbase that makes Lumen Field a tough place to play for opponents. There's a "12" patch on the back of the jersey's collar and a pattern within the jersey numbers, as well.
The new uniforms are part of the NFL's "Rivalries" program, which was announced in April. Mike Macdonald's Seahawks are one of eight teams rolling out the new threads this season, along with the entire AFC East and the rest of the NFC West.
"The NFL is home to some of the biggest football rivalries and today marks a historical moment for the NFL as we share 'Rivalries' with the world," said Renie Anderson, the NFL's chief revenue officer, when the program was announced. "Together with Nike, we are harnessing the power of rivalry matchups to bring fan excitement and community pride to the next level. Through specially designed player uniforms and limited-edition fan gear, we will embark on a journey that inspires competitive spirit and reveals the winner in all of us."
