Why NFL teams should be afraid if Packers QB Jordan Love makes the playoffs

The Green Bay Packers have found their franchise quarterback. With the 2023-24 season expected to serve as a transitional year for the Green and Gold, it has been anything but.

Jordan Love has been playing lights out and has looked more and more like the guy the team hoped for when they drafted him in 2020.

Love is third in the league in touchdowns (30), 10th in the league in QBR (61.5) and 10th in yards (3,843.) Not only has Love played well this season, he’s been playing his best games against playoff teams.

According to PFF, Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love is the second-highest-graded offensive player against current playoff teams.

In his first couple of months as the team’s starting quarterback, Love struggled with his decision-making and accuracy, but he turned a corner in Green Bay’s Nov. 19 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. In that contest, Love outdueled Justin Herbert and since then, Love has looked more and more like the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers.

Last season, Aaron Rodgers didn’t play well against playoff-eligible teams. Green Bay went 3-4 against those teams. Granted, the schedule last season was less than favorable, whereas this season. Green Bay hasn’t faced as tough of a schedule.

Love’s performances on big stages against the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs showed that he is capable of playing well against top competition.

The Green Bay Packers’ upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears will only showcase if Jordan Love can close out a playoff spot against an inferior opponent. But the game is anything but a lock. Green Bay struggled against the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and while the Jordan Love stock is high. A loss against a division rival would somewhat dim a marvelous first year for the first-year starter.

What seemed like an impossible feat three weeks ago, Green Bay’s two straight wins have given them new life, as a victory on Sunday will clinch a playoff spot and cap off a successful season.
