Will Seahawks Regret Not Re-Signing Kenneth Walker III?

The Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl last season. Obviously, that means the roster was chock-full of talented players on both sides of the ball.

When you have that much talent, it’s impossible to keep everybody happy for long. There are just too many players who need new deals, and the Seahawks had to make some tough decisions.

Probably the biggest loss for the Seahawks was running back Kenneth Walker III. Walker rushed for over 1,000 yards last season and was a key reason why the team was able to go all the way. However, the running back opted to ink a deal with the Chiefs instead, leading the Seahawks to draft Jadarian Price to replace him.

Walker just had his debut with the Chiefs, and it seems like his goal is to make the Seahawks regret letting him walk out the door.

Walker Shines in Kansas City Debut

The Chiefs played the Broncos on Monday night in a game that could definitely have playoff implications. The Chiefs had a down 2025 after Patrick Mahomes got injured, and the Browns made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

Well, on Monday night, the Chiefs easily looked like the more dominant team, and that’s in no small part to Walker. Walker rushed for 173 yards and one touchdown on the night, while also catching three passes for 18 yards and one touchdown.

At times, Walker looked like the best player on the field. The running back was explosive, hard to bring down, and he helped out in all phases of the offense. It was a new career high in rushing for Walker, which is impressive for his first game with a new team.

Will Seahawks Regret Letting Walker Go?

Ultimately, this will all come down to how Price performs. The rookie has looked promising so far, but he obviously hasn’t yet come close to being as impressive as Walker.

In the opener, Price averaged over five yards per carry. The rookie showed off his vision and explosiveness, and it’s not hard to imagine him getting a larger role as the season goes on. If Price can be a 1,000-yard rusher, which the team definitely thinks he can be, then they won’t have any regrets about losing Walker.

However, if Price has issues staying healthy, or just never amounts to much, it will be very easy to second-guess this decision. It’s very, very early, but Walker’s hot start at least has to have our attention.
