With Preseason Game vs Dolphins Looming, Giants Sign RB

The Miami Dolphins are still searching for their first win of the preseason after dropping their preseason opener to the Washington Commanders, but fortunately, the second game on their slate is almost here. On Saturday, August 22, they will take on the New York Giants within the friendly confines of Hard Rock Stadium, and New York just bolstered its running back room in potentially a major way ahead of that matchup.

The Giants and running back Najee Harris — a former Pro Bowler — have come to terms on a one-year deal in light of the team’s decision to waive Dante Miller. Harris saw his 2025 season get derailed by a torn Achilles, as he went down with the injury in a September matchup against the Denver Broncos, but he’s more than proven his mettle at the NFL level with some stellar seasons running the ball. He’s played in five pro seasons yet already has four 1,000-plus rushing yard campaigns under his belt, including a career-high 1,200 yards with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2021.

Harris is a majorly talented back, but he’s still facing an uphill battle for major snaps in New York with the depth chart they already have. Cam Skattebo, their RB1, is one of the better young players at his position in the league, and Tyrone Tracy — who’s fresh off posting more than 700 yards on the ground in 2025 — is firmly right behind him on the depth chart as their RB2.

Even Devin Singletary is ahead of Harris right now in the pecking order, and it’s safe to say he’s the RB4 at this juncture. He’s going to need to really stand out with some excellent play this preseason in order to leapfrog any of those three guys in the depth chart, but hopefully he won’t be tearing up the Dolphins’ defense on Saturday.
