With star RB duo Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, expect Packers to run the ball more this season

The offense is going to look a little bit different in Green Bay this season. Most of the same personnel will be back in Titletown in 2022. However, All-Pro wideout Davante Adams (Raiders) and big-play receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Chiefs) both joined new teams this offseason. With fresh faces in the receiver room, including free-agent receiver Sammy Watkins and three rookies, Packers head coach and play-caller Matt LaFleur will most likely be looking to run the ball with his backfield of multiple 1,100-yard running backs. 

Green Bay is hoping to build off of a solid rushing season (111.8 average YPG). The team did not have a running back who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2021, but Aaron Jones (799 rushing yards) and A.J. Dillon (803 rushing yards) combined for over 1,600 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Jones had rushed for 1,000-plus yards in the two seasons prior to 2021. The Pro Bowl running back is due for another very solid year. Jones is the only other running back outside of Derrick Henry who has more than 4,000 total yards and 40 total touchdowns over the last three seasons. Dillon, on the other hand, has been given the nickname "Quadzilla" for a reason. He rushed for more than 560 yards more in his sophomore season. He is the thunder to Jones' lightning. He is one of the hardest players to tackle in the league without a doubt. Jones averaged 4.7 yards per carry last year, while Dillon averaged 4.3 yards per tote. The Packers are in really good hands with their backfield. 

After two consecutive seasons as a top-10 offense, the Packers are in prime position to do the exact same thing once again. Yes, having the back-to-back MVP under center in Aaron Rodgers definitely helps things. No, they do not have an All-Pro receiver with the last name Adams on their side anymore. But, the franchise also happens to have arguably the best running back duo in all of football at its disposal. The Packers will run the ball even more this season as the new receivers look to get up to speed with LaFleur's offense.
