The Saints are the latest team to officially begin making roster cuts. These 10 players have officially been waived:

  • Ronnie Bell, WR
  • Elliott Davison, S
  • Hunter Dekkers, QB
  • Bub Means, WR
  • Zaire Mitchell-Paden, TE
  • Garrett Nelson, DE
  • Khalil Saunders, DT
  • Brien Taylor, DT
  • Xavier Truss, OL
  • Malakai Williams, DE

Bell is the most experienced player being let go with 28 regular-season appearances to his name. Two of those came with New Orleans in 2025, but adding to his Saints participation totals will require clearing waivers and remaining in place via a practice squad deal. Players waived this weekend are available for claims from outside teams until Monday afternoon.

Means is another member of the Saints’ receiving core who now faces an uncertain future. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football notes the former fifth-round pick is a candidate to be claimed by an interested team (or added as a free agent). If Means, 25, is added through waivers his next team would take on a $1.08MM base salary for 2026. In any event, the Saints will save that amount in cap space by cutting Means.

Dekkers did not survive roster cuts last summer, but he remained in the fold on New Orleans’ taxi squad. The former UDFA found himself on the team’s practice squad IR and wound up being cut in January, but he was brought back in June. A similar sequence to the way things played out in 2025 would come as no surprise in Dekkers’ case.
