WR Tyler Lockett: Russell Wilson is staying with Seahawks

Any supposed drama between one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson and others within the organization is now in the past, or at least that's what those involved would have outsiders believe.

Wilson has done his best to assure all he and head coach Pete Carroll are "still friends," and the signal-caller explained last week he and Carroll "have gotten closer" this year. Six-time First-Team All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner claimed earlier this month rumors and suggestions about Wilson's alleged unhappiness in Seattle were "a little overblown," and wide receiver Tyler Lockett decided to address the matter during Tuesday's edition of "Good Morning Football" on NFL Network.

"Yeah, I expect Russ to be here for the foreseeable future," Lockett said of his QB1, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "Obviously, there was a lot of stuff that went on during the offseason and I think in the offseason, a lot of TV shows are off, nobody really has a lot to talk about, so they try to find things to be able to talk about. They try to read between the lines and dig in a little bit more. And that’s kind of what it’s like in society now, you try to figure out what type of news, what’s the best article to write to get a lot of people to pay attention."

Nobody knows what the future holds, and CBS Sports' Adam Schein and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler have both suggested Wilson could attempt to force an exit from the Seahawks if they underperform on the field this fall. The 32-year-old is signed through 2023, while Lockett put pen to paper in March on a massive four-year extension that could be worth $69.2 million with $37 million guaranteed.
