Xavier Worthy injury update leaves Chiefs fans longing for Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs finally got Xavier Worthy back in their offense two weeks ago and the impact was immediate. While Worthy has played in the past two games, he was the only Chief not to practice on Thursday ahead of Sunday night's game against the Detroit Lions.

This could very well simply be a precautionary thing for Worthy as he's been dealing with injuries all season, but to say that the update doesn't leave Chiefs fan uneasy would be an understatement. It makes the impending return of Rashee Rice that much more important.

Xavier Worthy injury has Chiefs fans counting down to Rashee Rice's return

The good news is that this week is the last game that the Chiefs will be without Rice. The former second-round pick out of SMU will have finished serving his six-game suspension after this week and can return to the team and the lineup for Week 7.

The hope is that both he and Worthy will be able to tear it up together when Rice does come back but Worthy's injuries have been concerning, to say the least. Will he be able to stay healthy for the rest of the year?

The two were only able to play together for four games last year due to Rice's knee injury happening in Week 4 a season ago. Worthy wasn't at his peak by that point so just imagine how much better this offense will look when the two can finally take the field together. Throw Hollywood Brown in there (who was not healthy in those four games and therefore didn't play) and the Chiefs will finally have the wide receiver trio they've dreamed about since last year.

Hopefully, Worthy not practicing on Thursday was just a precautionary thing because the Chiefs will need all of the help they can get against the Lions on Sunday night. Fortunately, no matter what happens, after that game takes place, Rice is returning and Patrick Mahomes will have his favorite weapon back at his disposal. It's about time.
