The New York Jets acquired legendary four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers for multiple draft picks back in April 2023, a development that many fans assumed would ultimately constitute a major upgrade at the quarterback position for then-coach Robert Saleh's Jets.
A year and more than seven months later and the Jets are still struggling to find their footing with Rodgers behind center as they dropped a 28-27 game to second year player Anthony Richardson and the Colts on Sunday.
Afterward, fans and analysts alike could not believe their eyes after viewing a comparison of records between Rodgers and former Jets quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson.
Reporter Steve Palazzolo shared the stat on Sunday following the Jets' loss, noting that Rodgers has a significantly lower winning percentage than both Darnold and Wilson.
Winning % as Jets starting QB:
— Steve Palazzolo (@StevePalazzolo_) November 17, 2024
Zach Wilson .364
Sam Darnold .342
Aaron Rodgers .273
Rodgers' total quarterback rating stands at 51.9, 24th in the National Football League. Most Jets fans didn't expect more MVP seasons from the former Packer and California Golden Bear, but they did expect more efficient and clutch play than Rodgers has shown.
With Rodgers stating recently that he wants to continue his career into 2025-2026, questions remain as to whether the Jets would be wise to bring him back as the team's starting quarterback next season, or if this offseason is the perfect time to move on and find someone else to lead the team's offense.
