Alexander Ovechkin is the top scoring left winger who is without a contract for next season, but it will be the Washington Capitals or retirement for him. He’s not going to play for another organization.

There are no ‘star’ left wingers going to be hitting free agency on July 1st. There are some middle-six forwards who will generate some interest for teams looking for depth scoring. For contending teams, these might be third-line players.

It’s an older group when looking at the top scorers so far this season, with half of top 10 being in their mid-30s or older.
