It has been a rough week for the St. Louis Blues as they are enduring back-to-back shutout losses. One of the biggest things to come out of it is that there are three players who should be playing considerably better than they are.

If the Blues want to get back on track and start to regain some ground on the Central Division, these three have to pick it up.

 Robert Thomas

There is no reason why Robert Thomas should be in this position right now. It has been a rough start for the captain, where the pressure might be getting to him.

With only 12 shots on goal in 12 games, he has yet to make more of an impact in scoring goals. Known for his ability to pass the puck, and with valuable first-line teammates in Jimmy Snuggerud and Dylan Holloway, he has five assists.

Not ideal. The reality is that this team depends on him to come back from this underwhelming start.

Cam Fowler

What started off as a comeback for Cam Fowler has not regressed to looking even worse than last season's debacle. In a battered blue line, with a couple of new pieces in play, No. 17 stepped up to start the year. He was eating some solid minutes, with positive production and that ability to move the puck at will behind Philip Broberg on that left side of the blue line.

But now, defensive lapses and nonchalant plays with the puck call for him to be once again a trade piece. The Blues have a lot of up-and-comers on the left side, like Theo Lindstein and Colin Ralph. Not to mention the ever-growing rumor of Simon Edvinsson from Detroit in the mix.

Dalibor Dvorsky

Speaking of that Edvinsson rumor, there is one more player who has been linked as the main component to it. That would be Dalibor Dvorsky, and his once glowing allure to General Manager Alexander Steen has now been dulled.

Dvorsky started off the 2026-27 season strong, but has really sunk back into his shell for a number of games in a row. No. 15 has slowed down his game, and mistakes are following. He is not taking many risks, but he is also not giving himself any chances either.

The Blues cannot give up on the young forward yet, but time is running out here as the prospects under him like Otto Stenberg and Aleksanteri Kaskimaki are stepping in from Springfield and making more of an impact.
