The Los Angeles Kings picked up their second win of the regular season after 60 minutes of hockey and overtime on Oct. 22. Brandt Clarke tipped the puck into the net to seal the win, handing the New York Islanders their second overtime loss of the season.

The win marked another victory for LA and gives them another reason to feel good. With the team looking for more offense, some of its prospects could have a chance to step up and make a difference. The Kings may draw from three key players on their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Ontario Reign, who could be potentially called up to provide support.

Chromiak Builds Momentum

Martin Chromiak had a breakout season with the Reign, posting 56 points (28 goals, 28 assists) in 71 games during the 2025-26 campaign. The Slovak native, drafted by the Kings in 2020, led the team in scoring and finished with 12 power-play goals, tied for fourth in the AHL. If he earns an NHL call-up, Chromiak could provide the Kings with another scoring option in their bottom six. His previous season with Ontario showed he can finish chances, and his power-play production could make him an option for the second unit.

When asked what he focused on most during the offseason, Chromiak said he spent more time on the ice than he had in previous years. “I try to be on the ice way more than I used to be the last couple years, so I ended up with the biggest difference. I tried to be on the ice most of the days,” he said. The extra time on the ice shows how much work Chromiak is putting in as he looks to continue improving and earn a spot with the Kings.

Through six games in the 2026-27 season, the Ilava, Sloavakia, native has recorded four goals and five points. His strong start to the season highlights his consistency and scoring ability. It’s a good push for him to earn a call-up to the professional league.

Defense Could Be Strengthened

Standing tall at 6-foot-2, the 220-pound left-shot defenseman could give the Kings another option on the blue line. Kirill Kirsanov‘s size and physicality could help him compete in front of the net and along the boards. As he continues developing with the Reign, he would look to build on his experience and prove he can contribute at the NHL level.

Given that Kirsanov played in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), the Russian blueliner has experience facing big, physical opponents. That experience has helped him adjust to the North American style of play. Down the line, he could become a reliable defensive option for the Kings. In six games during the 2026-27 campaign, the Russian has accumulated four assists and four points.

Connors Takes the Next Step

While Kenny Connors has played two NHL games in his career, making his debut against the Colorado Avalanche on March 2, 2026, before facing the New York Islanders on March 5, 2026, the 6-foot-2 forward will look to build on that experience in the future. In his rookie 2025-26 campaign with the Reign, Connors recorded 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 65 games. His production gave him a strong start to his professional career as he averaged 0.63 points per game in his first AHL season.

With a solid rookie season in the books, Connors has a solid foundation as he continues working towards a bigger role in the Kings organization. For the current 2026-27 season, he has played in six games, resulting in three assists and three points with the Reign.

Matter of Time

Only time will tell how these three prospects continue to develop and work toward earning opportunities with the Kings. Each individual will have to improve their game, prove themselves, and show what they can bring to the organization as they gain more experience and do well with their current club. Their performances will be important as they look to take the next step in their careers. Each prospect has a different path ahead, but Chromiak, Kirsanov, and Connors will look to make the most of their opportunities with the Reign.
