Ivan Fedotov was a big name pickup for the Flyers from Russia, but now, after an underwhelming campaign, he's set to begin in the AHL ahead of trade rumours, with the 6-foot-7 goaltender still needing to find his footing in North America.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a major letdown in 2024/25, and one of the biggest reasons for their struggles was the goaltending, as the team ranked 28th in the NHL with a combined 3.45 GAA on the season.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest reasons for that struggle was the play of 6-foot-7goaltender Ivan Fedotov, who posted a 3.15 GAA and an .880 save percentage after arriving from Russia with high hopes as the future goaltender of this team.

Now, the future of the 28-year old is up in the air, as NHL reporter Anthony DiMarco has confirmed a report that he'll start in the AHL next season for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, meaning he could potentially be moved this summer if the right deal comes along.

With several teams around the league needing goaltending help, Fedotov could be an underrated pickup if the Flyers aren't asking too much, but after all they went through to get him to Philadelphia, there's a chance that they won't want to give up on him too quickly.

In 29 games at the NHL level, Fedotov has now shown that he can yet be a consistent goaltender in the top league in the world, despite having immense success in the KHL, so perhaps sending him to the AHL could help him turn things around, but either way, keep a close eye on Fedotov as he's set to potentially become a very hot name on the goaltending market.
