The Coachella Valley Firebirds are signing 26-year-old forward Jakov Novak to an AHL contract for the 2025-26 season. Novak last season played in four games for the Laval Rocket, recording an assist. He was a plus-one. Novak played in 53 games for the Trois-Rivières Lions, recording 57 points on 25 goals and 32 assists. He was a +11 with ten power-play goals, four game-winning goals, and 77 penalty minutes. In 20 Kelly Cup Playoff games en route to a Championship, he had 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He was a plus-eight with two power-play goals and 28 penalty minutes.

Novak played three years at Bentley University, then transferred to Northeastern University for the final two seasons. In 161 collegiate games, he had 91 points on 46 goals and 45 assists. He was a +16 with 11 power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, nine game-winning goals, and 188 penalty minutes. He also appeared for the Allen Americans of the ECHL in 2022-23 after Northeastern. In 14 games, he had 12 points on seven goals and five assists. He was even in plus/minus with a game-winning goal and six penalty minutes. In six Kelly Cup Playoff games, he had a goal, which was a game-winner. He finished as a plus-one with two penalty minutes.
In 2023-24, he played in two games with the Rocket; he was held pointless and finished as a minus-two. Novak also played with the Trois-Rivières Lions; he played in 66 games, recording 56 points on 30 goals and 26 assists. He was a plus-five with seven power-play goals, nine game-winning goals, and 81 penalty minutes. In six Kelly Cup Playoff games, he had seven points on six goals and an assist. He was even in plus/minus with a game-winning goal and six penalty minutes.
