AHL: Iowa Wild Sign Two Forwards

This afternoon, Iowa Wild General Manager announced that the team had signed forward Elliot Desnoyers and Matthew Sop. Desnoyers is a one-year, one-way contract, while Sop is a one-year, two-way contract. Desnoyers played in 59 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this past season. He recorded 19 points on five goals and 14 assists. He was a minus-three with 27 penalty minutes. In four Calder Cup Playoff games, he recorded an assist. Desnoyers was a minus-one with four penalty minutes.

Sop played in 24 games for Iowa this past season, recording 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He was a plus-seven with two game-winning goals and eight penalty minutes. Sop also appeared in 29 games for the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL. He recorded 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists. Sop was a plus-three with three power-play goals, five game-winning goals, and 16 penalty minutes. In five Kelly Cup Playoff games, he had six points on a goal and five assists. He was a plus-one with four penalty minutes.

Elliot Desnoyers

Desnoyers has spent three seasons with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 187 games, he has 85 points on 34 goals and 51 assists. He was a minus-eight with six power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, two game-winning goals, and 66 penalty minutes. In 11 Calder Cup Playoff games, he has two points on a goal and an assist. He is a minus-six with six penalty minutes. He’s played in four NHL games for the Flyers; he hasn’t recorded a point and is a minus-two.

Matthew Sop

Sop before joining the Wild, spent five seasons in the OHL playing for the Kitchener Rangers. In 203 games in the OHL, he recorded 169 points on 76 goals and 93 assists. He was a +25 with 107 penalty minutes.
