The Providence Bruins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins met tonight at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza. Both teams entered tonight undefeated, with the Bruins coming in at 6-0-0-0 while the Penguins entered tonight 7-0-0-0. The Bruins would leave their road game as the lone undefeated team in the Eastern Conference and one of the two undefeated teams in all of the American Hockey League. The Bruins won the game 3-1 over the Penguins tonight.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening frame. Each team registered seven shots on goal. The Bruins did have a power-play as Scooter Brickey had the lone penalty with two minutes for interference at 8:31 of the period.
The Bruins got on the board first. The Penguins had a chance to score, but the scoring opportunity transitioned to Providence, finding the back of the net. Brett Harrison scored his second of the season to give the Bruins the lead. Later on in the period, the Bruins tacked on to their lead as Riley Tufte scored his fifth of the season to make it 2-0 Providence. The Penguins got one back less than a minute later as Valtteri Puustinen scored his second of the season. Providence made it a two-goal game again when Georgii Merkulov scored his fifth of the season to make it 3-1, Bruins.
Another period where neither team scored. The Penguins did outshoot the Bruins 6-4 in the final 20 minutes, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
The Bruins came away with the 3-1 win. Michael DiPietro stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced, while reigning AHL Player of the Week Sergei Murashov stopped 13 of the 16 shots he faced. Tufte was named the first star of the game with a goal. Patrick Brown finished as the second star with two assists. DiPietro was the third star of the game.
The Bruins will return to the ice on Saturday at home against the Hershey Bears. The Penguins return on Friday night at home against the Bridgeport Islanders.
