The Providence Bruins continued their road trip tonight against the Belleville Senators. The Bruins are coming off a 5-1 win over the Marlies on Wednesday. The Senators on the other hand suffered a 5-1 loss to the Moose on Wednesday. Michael DiPietro got the start in goal for the Bruins, bringing in an 8-2-0 record, a 1.80 goals-against average, and a .942 save percentage. Mads Sogaard got the start for the Senators. He entered the game 1-1-2 with a 3.40 goals-against average, and an .880 save percentage.

The Bruins got the scoring started as the captain Patrick Brown scored his ninth goal of the season. That lead lasted a little over four minutes as Lassi Thomson scored his fourth of the year for Belleville. The Bruins would take the lead once again as Jacob Perreault scored a power-play goal. It was his second of the year. Providence outshot Belleville 8-7.
Providence would add to their lead seven minutes into the period as Perreault scored again. The Bruins would add to their lead with just 11 seconds left in the period as Matthew Poitras scored his second of the year. Providence outshot Belleville 9-6 in the period.
In the final period, Senators got one back as they got a power-play goal from Arthur Kaliyev. Billy Sweezey took a tripping call. It was Kaliyev’s 12th goal of the year. Belleville went on the man advantage again three seconds after the goal and once again capitalized. This time they got a power-play goal from Xavier Bourgault to make it 4-3. Providence got its own man advantage just five seconds after the Belleville goal. The Bruins took advantage of their power-play chance as Dans Locmelis scored to make it 5-3. It was Locmelis’ seventh goal of the year. Providence would add one more as Jake Schmaltz scored on the empty net. His third of the season.
DiPietro stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced in the win. Sogaard stopped 19 of the 25 shots he faced in the loss. Perreault was the first star with his two goals. Kaliyev was the second star for Belleville. Locmelis was the third star.
These two teams will be back at it again at 3:00 PM EST at CAA Arena.
