The St. Louis Blues, in their season opener in Dallas, currently lead 1-0. During the second period, they saw forward Alexey Toropchenko go down with a shoulder injury. During a play, he was checked along the boards and needed help leaving the ice. Toropchenko, after assistance to the bench, could be seen hunched over before making his way down the tunnel. Not a great scene for Blues fans, as he’s likely not to return to tonight’s game.

After Toropchenko left the game, emotions were high, and Jake Neighbours and Artur Hyry dropped the gloves after a hit. It was five minutes each for both. The lone Blues goal to this point came via a goal from the newest Blue, Mason McTavish.
Torophchenko is in his sixth season with the Blues. He has appeared in 324 career games. He has 71 points on 34 goals and 37 assists. Toropchenko has a -18 with four shorthanded goals and two career game-winning goals. Torophcenko was on the fourth line with Pius Suter and Ross Johnston tonight. He also appeared on their top penalty kill unit with Suter, Philip Broberg, and Colton Parayko.
It’s a tough loss for the Blues, who have dealt with injuries to their blue line, and now one of their top penalty-killing forwards has sustained an injury.
