Granlund will have trade protection with this contract.
Granlund gets a full NTC in Year 1, a 15-team trade list in Year 2, and a 10-team trade list in Year 3. He'll make an even $7M in total salary each year.
Granlund was phenomenal last year, scoring 66 points split between the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars. Granlund, along with Cody Ceci went to Dallas in exchange for a first and third-round pick.
Before being dealt to the Stars midseason last year, he was a great contributor for a struggling San Jose Sharks team, scoring 60 points in 69 games in 2023-24. Before then, he was a part of the Erik Karlsson trade, which sent the Norris trophy winner to Pittsburgh.
There was once a time when Granlund was on one of the worst contracts in the NHL, having scored 5 points in 21 games with the Penguins, but he has managed to bounce back and find his form as a top player.
Through his 902-game career, Granlund has scored 179 goals and 610 points. He has played with the Stars, Sharks, Penguins, Nashville Predators, and Minnesota Wild. He will now join his sixth team and prove he still is elite at 33 years old.
