Angela Price Makes Emotional Comments on Carey's Possible Trade: ‘You Want What's Best for the Team'

Angela Price, the wife of former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, is reacting to the news that his contract could soon be moved out of town in a trade.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price may still be under contract with the team for another year, but he hasn't played since 2022.

Before that, he hadn't played since leading the Canadiens on their stunning run to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final; he's been unable to play since then, other than a short period of time in 2021-22 thanks to a lingering knee issue.

Carey Price's wife responds to speculation about his contract

The Canadiens are expected to soon trade Price's contract, as his AAV (average annual value) of $10.5 million has them several million over the current salary cap limit.

Angela Price, Carey's wife, was asked how she'd feel about his contract being moved:

Probably the same way most of Montreal would feel....but ultimately you want what's best for the team.

A candid message of realism and loyalty to the Canadiens

Price remained loyal to the Canadiens throughout his entire career, even when it seemed as though he was supplanted as the goalie of the future with the Habs thanks to the emergence of Jaroslav Halak during the 2010 playoffs.

Eventually, Price regained his starting role and, for a time, was considered the best goaltender in the League, becoming the 1st goalie since former Habs goalie Jose Theodore in 2001-02 to win the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP.

But hockey is still a business, and a trade of Price's contract would strictly be a business decision on the part of Montreal management.
