Frondell was drafted with the hopes that he would develop into a star power forward. At 6'1" and 204 lbs, the Swedish center provides much-needed size to the Blackhawks' pool of prospect forwards. He's proved to be offensively talented and defensively sound in Sweden's top professional hockey league.
But will Frondell's game translate to the NHL? Can Frondell capitalize on his incredible wrist shot and provide physicality to the Blackhawks' top-six forwards? Or will the smaller size of the NHL's playing surface and the overall speed of the game prove to be difficult for Frondell?
The next step for Frondell is to either return to Sweden for one more year or play for a roster spot in training camp. The question surrounding this step is whether Frondell is truly ready to jump into the NHL. Does Kyle Davidson rush Frondell, or does he let Frondell develop for one more year? Early reports are that he will, in fact, head back to Sweden this upcoming season.
