Arthur Kaliyev was forced to attend Los Angeles Kings training camp this week after a bit of a holdout during a contract dispute.
Eventually, the team gave him a solid one-year deal worth over $800K. However, in his first day on the ice, Kaliyev went down with a devastating injury. As we reported, it was revealed to be an upper-body injury that would require surgery. In fact, it would keep him out for an exceptionally long time, which is horrible given the fact that Kaliyev needed a strong training camp.
Now, it has been confirmed that Kaliyev ended up breaking his clavicle. He is now out indefinitely, and this is the worst possible scenario for the Kings franchise, as well as Kaliyev himself.
You have to feel for the kid, who only had 15 points last season. In the eyes of many, this was his opportunity to show the world what he can do. Now, he will have to wait months before getting back onto the ice. It just goes to show that sports are a cruel world in which anything can happen at any time. Hopefully, he is able to come back better than ever.
