Noah Dobson could be on the move this summer, and according to reports, the Red Wings have begun engaging in trade talks over the star defenseman.
The New York Islanders have made some big changes already this summer, and with the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, this is a team that's ready to take a huge step forward.
One way that they could do that is by making a blockbuster trade, and according to all reports, that's what the team are trying to do with talented blue liner Noah Dobson, who is seemingly on the trade block.
Now, teams are circling, and according to a report from The Hockey News, it's the Detroit Red Wings that have made the first big offer for Dobson, but it clearly isn't enough to get the job done.
That report states that Steve Yzerman has offered J.T. Compher, Jonatan Berggren and draft picks to land Dobson, but clearly that's nowhere near good enough to interest the Islanders in the slightest.
In return for Dobson, the Islanders are likely seeking a first-round pick and a prospect of much higher value than either Berggren or Compher, and unless the Red Wings are willing to fork that up, it's unlikely that a deal could get done here.
It's going to be a long summer for the Islanders, and with the team likely to select Matthew Schaefer with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, they've got a future top option on their blue line, so if they can find a good deal for Dobson, this is a team whose future becomes much more positive if they can get a deal done.
