The Avalanche aren’t done making trades.

Less than 24 hours after acquiring center Brock Nelson from the New York Islanders, the Avs are sending center Casey Mittelstadt, prospect Will Zellers and a 2025 second-round draft pick to the Boston Bruins for center Charlie Coyle and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Coyle, 33, has 15 goals and seven assists in 64 games with the Bruins, who have struggled offensively this year. He had 25 goals and 60 points during a career year in 2023-24.

Coyle makes $5.25 million per year through next season. In comparison, Mittelstadt was locked up for two more years at $5.75 million.

Mitteltadt was acquired by the Avs just over a year ago for Bowen Byram. He had a great start to his Avs tenure before his production and game fell off a cliff over the past four months. He had 13 points in the first 10 games of the season but just 21 in his last 52.
