The Colorado Avalanche have recalled forward Gavin Brindley from their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, the team announced. The move comes just over a week after Brindley was reassigned to the Eagles on October 22.

The recall appears to be driven primarily by uncertainty around Logan O’Connor’s availability for Saturday’s game against the Calgary Flames. O’Connor was not at practice Friday morning ahead of the funeral for his father, Myles, which was held Friday evening, per Corey Masisak of The Denver Post.

O’Connor was nearing his season debut from a lower-body injury at the time and stepped away from the team to be with his family. He was activated off long-term injured reserve ahead of Colorado’s October 23 game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and has appeared in each of the club’s last three games, averaging 13:24 of ice time without recording a point.

Still, Brindley has made a case for another NHL look. He has four points (one goal, three assists) in four games since his reassignment and finished October as the Eagles’ leading scorer and second star of the month with nine points (two goals, seven assists) in eight games, despite missing two games while with the Avalanche. During his first recall of the season, which began October 14, he recorded one assist in four NHL games while averaging 8:08 of ice time with no special-teams usage.

The 22-year-old was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in June 2025, along with a 2025 third-round pick and a conditional 2027 second-round pick, in exchange for Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood. Selected 34th overall by Columbus in 2023, Brindley opened and played the majority of last season with the Avalanche and finished with six goals and 13 points before being reassigned in late March. Brindley has 14 creer points across 61 NHL games.
