Entering the 2025-26 season, there were few players in the Chicago Blackhawks organization that created more buzz than Oliver Moore. Entering his first full pro season, Moore was primed to showcase his skills. He’s our next player grade spotlight.
Oliver Moore began the season in the AHL, playing alongside Nick Lardis in Rockford. Moore was spectacular in his limited time with the Rockford IceHogs. Nine points (including six goals) in nine games meant a quick promotion to the NHL.
Once arriving, Moore’s speed was always on display, but the offense didn’t pick up right away. In fact, some of Moore’s best play came at the center spot once Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar vacated the lineup due to injury. Moore’s chemistry with Lardis was reignited during that time as well.
Ultimately, Moore’s season ended early due to an injury, but he skated in the World Championships for Team USA and impressed teammate Matthew Tkachuk. Ideally, Oliver Moore can use the Worlds as a springboard into next season. He finished the season with 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 51 games.
While the way Oliver Moore’s season ended was a bummer, the Minnesota product quickly became one of Chicago’s most electric players. Moore ended the year with five points in his last 10 games, including an assist on the play where he injured himself against Dallas.
Moore was the most versatile young rookie for Chicago, spending time on the PK, PP, second, third, and fourth lines. At the same time, he played both center and wing. The production was admittedly a little lackluster, just 19 points in 51 games. But it looked like things started to click for Moore with eight points in his last 24 games. He will be a big piece for Chicago as they look to continue improving.
Oliver Moore really stepped it up when the Blackhawks offense was without some of its best offensive players in Bedard and Nazar. He also showed that he can slot in at center, adding some versatility to the already fleet-footed forward that we knew him to be. A very positive step forward in the development of the former first round pick.
The Blackhawks started Oliver Moore in the AHL, but it didn’t take long for him to move up to the NHL. Unfortunately, Moore’s season ended prematurely due to injury. However, Moore really flashed, especially at center, in his first full pro season. Moore tallied 19 points in 51 games and found a ton of success during the absence of both Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar. Moore could be the Blackhawks 3C of the future, and had a B-level season.
Whether Moore will play center or wing next season remains to be seen, but early quotes suggest Moore will be a wing next season. Perhaps some top-six time is in the future for Moore, and if he continues to impress, could really take a massive step forward on the scoresheet in 2026-27.
