General Manager Kyle Davidson praised Donato’s relentless style and impact since joining the club, stating, “Ryan brings energy and competes hard every game, which has been a huge asset to our team over the last two seasons. He’s been a crucial part of our offense, and we’re excited for Ryan to continue to make a difference in our lineup for the next four years.”
The 29-year-old winger is coming off a career year, skating in 80 games for the Blackhawks during the 2024-25 campaign. Donato set new personal bests in virtually every major offensive category, including:
His 31 goals not only topped the Blackhawks’ roster but also demonstrated his consistency as a top-line threat. Donato also brought grit to the lineup, ranking third on the team with 104 hits.
One of his season highlights came in a February matchup against the Nashville Predators, where Donato notched a career-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in a single game and celebrated his 200th career NHL point.

A Boston native, Donato’s professional journey has taken him across the league. Originally selected 56th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2014 NHL Draft, he’s played for the Bruins, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, and since 2023, the Blackhawks. Over 483 NHL games, Donato has collected 227 points (108 goals, 119 assists). He’s also appeared in 19 playoff games, contributing two assists.
Standing at 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, Donato has developed into a reliable two-way forward with a scoring touch and physical presence, traits the Blackhawks hope will help anchor their rebuild.
With Donato’s signature secured for four more years, Chicago ensures a key piece of its offense will remain part of the team’s foundation as they continue to build for the future.
