The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Dominic Toninato from the Rockford IceHogs. Toninato beefs up the forward group after Teuvo Teravainen was injured in Tuesday’s win over the St. Louis Blues.

In addition, Andrew Mangiapane was placed on injured reserve, opening a roster spot for Toninato. Now, it appears Toninato will be asked to replicate a bit of what Mangiapane brought to the lineup.

There is no word on the severity of Teravainen’s injury, but it is guaranteed he will not play on Thursday against the New York Islanders, per head coach Jeff Blashill. Ideally, he won’t miss too much time after leaving Tuesday’s loss with an ankle injury on the play below.

Toninato skated in eight games with the Blackhawks last season, tallying just one assist. He is in the second year of a two-year deal that he signed with Chicago prior to the 2025-26 season. With injuries already effecting the forward group, Toninato’s 197 games of NHL experience will be leaned upon to round out the lineup.

The Blackhawks are in New York taking on the Islanders on Thursday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
