Former Chicago Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews is back in the NHL. Toews agreed to sign with the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, as he looks to continue his career in the league.
Toews had been out of hockey since the 2023 season, but had previously expressed his desire to return. Now with the Jets, Toews will look to help Winnipeg go after a Stanley Cup title.
But the Blackhawks took the time to send Toews a message following the news of the signing. Chicago posted to its social media account.
"The entire Blackhawks organization would like to congratulate Jonathan Toews and welcome him back to the NHL. That work he's done over the past two years to make his return is a testament to his resiliency and determination - the same qualities that our fans fell in love with and continue to define him as a player."

Toews helped the Blackhawks win three Stanley Cup titles during his legendary career in Chicago. The veteran will forever be loved in the city of Chicago, so this message means a lot coming from the team.
Now with the Jets, Toews will likely receive a nice ovation from the Blackhawks' fans whenever he makes his return to Chicago. The Jets may be a rival of the team, but Toews is a legend, and the fans will show him love.
Toews is on a one-year deal, so it remains to be seen how long he will play for. But the veteran believes he still has much to give and will look to grab another title.
