Blues Announce Logan Mailloux, Tyler Tucker On IR

The St. Louis Blues announced this morning that they have placed both Logan Mailloux and Tyler Tucker on Injured Reserve, per a team press release.

Mailloux, the 23-year-old defenseman, left during a preseason contest with an upper-body injury, per a team announcement. The extent of his injury was unclear, but seeing as the Blues open their regular season on Friday, he will not play. The Blues revealed that Mailloux underwent successful surgery on his right hand last Sunday and is to be re-evaluated in eight weeks.

This adds to the bumps he saw early in his Blues tenure. After a trade from the Montreal Canadiens last summer, Mailloux turned a corner as 2025-26 progressed. Scoring five goals for 13 points, he became one of the Blues’ more promising players. The former 2021 first-rounder was expected to open the year in the top four on a pairing with Philip Broberg.

Tucker is considered week-to-week, after tweaking his knee in practice last weekend, Lou Korac of NHL.com reported earlier.

As for Tucker, lower-body issues have repeatedly popped up for him since he became a full-time NHL option early in the 2024-25 campaign. Last year, he solidified into a full-time role, recording 17 points, 81 penalty minutes, and 100 hits in 69 games, while standing as the Blues’ top enforcer.

Tucker has seen injuries like this come up, most notably missing six games down the stretch last season with a lower-body injury. Whether that was knee-related is unknown.

The former seventh-round pick is considered to be a lock for the NHL roster, but these injuries see openings for younger players making their way up the lineup. 2023 first-round pick Theo Lindstein is set to crack the opening-night roster for the first time and looks to fill in on Tucker’s depth spot on the left side for the time being. The Blues also scooped up Justin Barron on the waiver wire over the weekend from the Nashville Predators. The 24-year-old could provide ample depth the Blues need in the big club. He filled a quiet role on the Predators through the last two seasons, totaling 21 points in 97 games with the club. Along with this, St. Louis has also called up Adam Jiricek from the AHL, per Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic. The former 16th-overall pick from 2024 has yet to make his NHL debut.
