Blues' Brayden Schenn Tells Painful Truth After Game 7 Defeat

St. Louis Blues star forward Brayden Schenn knows what it's like to reach the top in the NHL, as he won a Stanley Cup with the team in 2019.

He will have to wait for at least another season to try winning the Cup again after the Blues suffered a stunning 4-3 Game 7 loss at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.

Schenn and the Blues were already smelling the scent of the second round of the playoffs when they started the fourth quarter with a two-goal cushion.

St. Louis was literally just over a second away from advancing to the next round and eliminating Winnipeg but a Cole Perfetti goal with 1.6 seconds left in the third period tied the score at 3-3, necessitating overtime.

"We thought we played a solid 58 minutes tonight, and unfortunately the last two, we gave them life," Schenn said after the game (h/t Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic). "And overtime, I think it went off a body and far side and in. That’s just unfortunate."

The game ended in dramatic fashion when Neal Pionk's shot deflected off Adam Lowry and went past Blues goalie Jordan Binnington 16:10 into the second overtime.

St. Louis was dominated in the possession battle in Game 7, as the Jets had 47 shots on goal to just 29 by St. Louis.

Binnington had an overall solid performance in front of the net for St. Louis, stopping 43 of those shots from Winnipeg, but let in the biggest goals of the night that led to the Blues' early demise in the playoffs.
