Blues Place Marc-Andre Gaudet On Waivers

The first waiver placement of training camp is upon us.  Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports (Twitter link) that the Blues have placed defenseman Marc-Andre Gaudet on waivers.

The 22-year-old was a fifth-round pick by St. Louis back in 2022, signing his entry-level deal just a few months later in the midst of a breakout year in the QMJHL.  That season, Gaudet played in 66 games between Chicoutimi and Sherbrooke, tallying 15 goals and 46 assists.

Unfortunately for Gaudet and St. Louis, the offensive production has yet to carry over to the AHL.  While he has had some success in the ECHL (including 10 points in 12 games with Florida in 2024-25), he has been much quieter in that department with AHL Springfield.  Gaudet spent all of last season with the Thunderbirds, collecting five goals and 15 assists in 53 regular season games while adding four points in 11 playoff contests.

At this point, it’s likely that Gaudet will make it through waivers unclaimed and report back to the Thunderbirds.  If that happens, he’ll be looking to make a bigger impact with the Thunderbirds in the hopes of securing his first recall.  Failing that, the goal will be to make enough of an impact to secure a qualifying offer this spring once his entry-level contract comes to an end.
