Blues Recall Quinton Burns
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

With the Blues only carrying a minimum-sized roster at the moment, adding reinforcements at some point was a given.  They’ve added one on the back end as they’ve recalled blueliner Quinton Burns from AHL Springfield, per the NHL’s media site.

It’s the first career NHL recall for the 21-year-old.  Burns was a third-round pick back in 2023 out of OHL Kingston, spending two more seasons with the Frontenacs after being selected.  In 2024-25, he had a big season there, tallying 49 points and 100 penalty minutes in 66 contests.

That production didn’t carry over to his first professional campaign last season.  Burns split the year between the Thunderbirds and ECHL Florida.  With the former, he had five assists and 92 penalty minutes in 31 games while with the latter, he collected six points and 17 penalty minutes in 16 appearances.  This season, Burns has an assist and 29 penalty minutes through seven outings in Springfield.

At first glance, it seems unlikely that Burns will see much action.  Theo Lindstein, one of their top defensive prospects, could be back up before long after getting some game action in with the Thunderbirds; he made his season debut with them last night.  For now, at least, Burns will get a chance to make an impression on the coaching staff in the hopes of making his NHL debut.
